Welcome to the State Department for Economic Planning

The State Department for Economic Planning is responsible for formulation, co-ordination of implementation, monitoring and evaluation of economic development plans, policies and strategies towards achieving the national development agenda. The State Department provides leadership in preparation of the country’s long-term development blue prints, Medium-Term Plans and Sector Plans as well as Public Investment Policy and Oversight. Mission


To provide leadership in National and Sectoral Development Planning by coordinating the formulation, implementation, review, tracking and reporting of development plans, policies, and strategies to advance Kenya’s socio-economic transformative agenda.

Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Mr. Felix Koskei, Economic Planning Principal Secretary Dr. Bonface Makokha, with help of residents planted over 30,000 tree seedlings in Lupida Secondary School, Nambale Constituency, Busia County and gave over 50,000 Fruit Seedlings to the sorrounding schools and the Community on 22nd  October 2025.
Two Buses were also handed over to Lupida Secondary and Siera Girls Schools respectively.

The official launch of the Capacity Building Programme for County Governments on Economic Planning and Strengthening National–County Integration Mechanisms and the Second Annual Progress Report of the MTP-IV  in Busia County officiated by the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, H.E. Dr. Musalia Mudavadi.
